About the GreenWood Wrights’Fest
The GreenWood Wrights’Fest is a volunteer-run organization that hosts gatherings of spoon carvers, bowl turners, chair makers, basket weavers, and tool smiths united by a passion for green woodworking.
Our mission is to facilitate welcoming, hands-on gatherings where people of all ages can learn, practice, and connect through the shared experience of making in an open-air environment.
The GreenWood Wrights’Fest is inspired by Roy Underhill, our mentor and lead volunteer! It was founded by woodworker Cara O’Connell in 2022 and is run by a team of dedicated volunteers.
Our community
GreenWood Wrights’Fest is shaped by the culture of the green woodworking community: quality teaching, respect for traditional methods, and a willingness to help the person sitting next to you. The festival is made possible by a core group of volunteers, teachers, makers, and vendors who you will meet at the festival.
The festival is family-friendly, with opportunities for adults and kids ages 6 and up (always accompanied by an adult) to learn carving, basket weaving, bowl carving, and more.
Volunteering
It takes a village to put a festival together, and we’re always looking for volunteers! All volunteers receive free access to the festival, aligned with the number of hours worked.
