Using freshly pounded and dressed ash splints, students will learn the basics of constructing a “square-to-round” basket, a simple project and introduction to the concepts and material knowledge of weaving with wood splints. Along the way, we’ll make simple rims and handles, also from ash, and learn the possibilities of green wood bending, patterned weaving and what wood splint can do with a little work and knowledge.
