Kick Back n' Carve

Join us for carving and camaraderie at The Plant in Pittsboro, NC on April 24-26, 2026. Kick Back n’ Carve is a relaxed, friendly atmosphere with experienced and new carvers. New carvers are especially encouraged to attend and can be connected with an experienced carver, just let us know!

Passes include ongoing carving, skills demonstrations (spoon carving, bowl turning, axe handle hafting, and more), camaraderie, camping, and parking. Three-day passes are $60 and single day passes are $25. Ages 16 and under are free, but must be accompanied by an adult at all times. 

Kick Back n’ Carve starts at noon on Friday and ends at 4PM on Sunday. Food and beverages available for purchase on site.

Know before you go

Venue

  • We’ll be gathering outdoors in the Piedmont region of North Carolina, so dress for outdoor temperatures and comfort.
  • We will have tents to help with sun or rain coverage.
  • Temperatures can be variable, so please prepare for both hot and cool temperatures and potential rain. 
  • We will provide fresh greenwood for carving, chopping blocks, and some tools.
  • Food is available on-site for purchase, you can find more about the options here.
  • Bathrooms and showers are available on-site. 
  • Parking is available on-site. 
  • All children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. 
  • Pets on a leash are welcome in the outdoor areas. 
 

Packing & Supplies

  • Pack a comfortable folding chair that isn’t too low to the ground for carving. 
  • Bring your favorite tools if you have them. If not, you can borrow some! 
  • Bug spray, sunscreen, hat, rain gear, and a refillable water bottle are recommended. 
 

Newbies

  • New to carving? That’s okay! We’ll set you up with an experienced carver, just let us know in advance. 
  • Arriving alone? That’s okay, too! We encourage connecting and meeting new people at the gathering. 
  • Don’t have your own tools yet? Not to fear! We will have some tools on site that you can borrow.
