He also has a Demo on 9 AM on Sunday of his Wonderful Carving Axes of the World. Ticket prices include over 19 Demos, camping, parking and special events.

GreenWood Wrights’Fest is cranking up for our th

GreenWood Wrights’Fest is cranking up for our third festival, October 11-13 @shakorihills at Shakori Hills Community Arts Center in Pittsboro, NC. Tickets for a wide variety of workshops are now available though our website.

The heart of the festival is 25+ green woodworking workshops including: spoon carving, chip carving, kolrosing, knife making, stool making, timber framing, spring pole lathe bowl turning, and more. Special workshops for kids ages 9 and above available. Ticket prices cover 19 demos including, traditional hand tool skills, blacksmithing, willow basket making, and tree identification.
Join the revelry with a weekend of green woodworking, camping, and family-friendly entertainment. Mozzy in the Market Place is at the core of the festival.

Mozzy will also be doing a demo on how to make a box sheath for your knife, Saturday at 1:00

First pictured, is the now famous Terry Ratliff @b.t.ratliff and teaching how to make his awesome stools with hickory bark seats. Fred Livesay has traveled the world learning and teaching sloyd skills, he @hand2mouthcrafts will be traveling all the way from Minnesota to teach how to haft sloyd knives. He will have blanks and blades for sale, or you can purchase some from @rockewood for more options. Third portrait is the amazing chip carver @danielclay. The following image is of a thought provoking historian/farmer named Earl IJames, who will delight you with his long leaf pine demo and more. We are very excited to have another new instructor, Angela Eastman @flagmountain.studio , who will share her basket making skills.

Kick Back and Carve was super chill, @deepriverfolkschool April 19-21,2024. The folk school is right on the Deep River, and enjoyed a dip in the rapids on Saturday. Glad we brought our new 20x20 High Peak tent out. Didn’t take many photos but was glad we had the time to be together, especially glad the red eyed invaders hadn’t dug their way out of the soil yet, way more chill.

Cicadas are making lots of noise their first week

Cicadas are making lots of noise their first week in town. Seems like the sounds and numbers are multiplying exponentially daily. Also saw my first hummer among the Rhododendrons and the hearts a busting, and my first snake this week.
One of my herp friends told me the copperheads are coming out of the forest because of the noise. So keep your eyes peeled and your long pants and boots on. I think this is gonna be an interesting time.
